From Them Through Us To You
Madina Lake.
i'd never heard of them.....they were just another band playing early on in the line up at Soundwave Sydney......thank god my curiosity took over and i went to their myspace site to have a geeze at their music...wow.....i was impressed to say the least. I went straight to it n got their last album, From Them Through Us To You, released March 2007. Believe me when i say, there is not a bad song on there. i was hooked, and super excited because i had tickets to Soundwave...and they were playing.......O...M...G....was that incredible. my mates n i fought with the poor planning of Soundwave Sydney and eventually found the stage we believed to be stage one...which is where Madina Lake should be playing at 2 o'clock. 2 came and went and all we saw for it was some sound guys moving speakers around with the occasional mic' check. none of my mates had heard them yet and were getting really impatient waiting, wanting to go. i pleaded with them, "stay, jus wait five min's. they'll be on in a 'sec". thank god they hung around because when Madina Lake finaly came on, it was the most incredible half hour set I’ve ever seen.
The entirety of their short set, was so energetic and lively, I couldn’t resist runnin’ into the pit n going nuts.
Obviously not that many people at Soundwave had heard of them, judging by the small but energetic crowed. their short set was so instance, the boys i was with who had never heard of them before, joined me and the small crowed in going nuts as the band responded in kind, playing with more energy and passion. for me, their set would have to be one of the best, if not the best sets the whole day. sure the Offspring were good....but you could play me an Offspring CD and i would enjoy it just as much.
As soon as we got back to The Bay, both the boys i was with wanted to borrow their CD and everyone who had heard it loves it.
they take the energetic music of Post-Hardcore but leave out the harsh screams which sometimes, can overshadow the clean vocals in Post-Hardcore. Nathan Leone (singer), has a very smooth voice, high but not too high, harsh in some instances yet soaring and delicate in others. combine this with the catchy drums and guitars, backed by simplistic yet effect bass work, you have one incredible album, something that you will listen to over and over again waiting for their next release in early 2009.
