Gallows
[Moved from Noizecore May - 09]
Gallows are back and I just came a brick.
I really expected another trashing, riotous punk fueled, hardcore romp similar to that of their last release, Orchestra Of Wolves.
Instead my ears were met with a darker, slightly heavier, bass filled sound. Still driven by the that raw punk energy of Wolves, Grey Britain delves deeper into a more melodic sound In many places.
One thing I do miss is Frank Carter’s high pitched, yell/screams from Wolves but this more deep, growling sound it’s the heavier tone of the album just perfectly.
Some songs still include the chaotic chants found in songs like Rolling With The Punches, but on the whole the new album feels a lot more, together, tight and polished, which, in one respect is a good thing, however the more I listen, the more I miss the fast passed chaos of Wolves. Grey Britain is brilliant; don’t get me wrong I love it. but I truly miss the unexpected chaos and riotous nature of Wolves.
I am extremely excited to have this album in my itunes, playing over and over because it is truly brilliant. No doubt its going to be one of my favourite albums. I simply wish that instead of producing one album, they did two. Grey Britain as it is, and another, keeping the style found in Orchestra Of Wolves. If I could have one wish it would be for them to release another album within the next six months, and have it belting out the sounds from Orchestra Of Wolves.
