//JonoGreatest Party Anthem of ALL Time
For hundreds of year, parties have been fuelled by music fitting the mood. I intend to find the top 5 party Anthems of All Time...well…actually...probab ly the last 30 years...maybe 40…I’m not exactly old enough to experience the party scene of 1940.
Firstly…who can look past, Beastie Boys Fight For Your Right….oh….lord…how f**kin good is that song….all up until Corey Worthington made me physically sick with his rendition. ARH!! The guy holds a party, gets 400 people to come…cops storm and he gets famous….big deal that gives him no right to pollute the airwaves with that filth. Anyways, back to the topic, who can surpase Fight For Your Right by the one and only Beastie Boys? Andrew W K maybe? He did do a whole EP called Party Till You Puke. But which of his songs would be a party anthem? Im going with We Want Fun because of the popularity it gained through its use in the original Jackass Film.
As much as it greeves me to say this, Rock this Party by Bob Sinclar might be a contender because it is a smash hit in parties. Everyone knows it and whether they love it or hate it, they will dance non the less. I personally hate the song, possibly because of it being overplayed at every bowling ally, shopping mall trendy bar and most horrifically, every ipod in Australia.
Where The Party’s At by Tonight Only, again released on Ministry Of Sound’s 2007 Annual, the same as Rock This Party. i cant confidently say that it is one of the best dance songs made in recent years, it is however an enjoyable song and fits the party mood quite nicely.
Rebel Yell by Billy Idol.... I cant claim that it has anything to do with a party of any sort, however, if you walk into any party no matter the crowed and play Rebel Yell, I guarantee you will see people dancing at least singing along and enjoying the song, but does this warrent it being a party anthem?
U Cant Touch This…need I say more. In the same league as Fight For Your Right. Not only was it a hit for MC Hammer when it was released but it has defiantly stood the test of time and would have to be counted as one of the best party songs ever.
KC and The Sunshine Band….That’s The Way I Like It….makes me wan’na get into some skin tight flares n crack out the disco ball. WOW what a disco anthem.
Finally I’m going to throw Crocodile Rock in. Elton John…Crocodile Rock…who on the face of this earth doesn’t love that song. Its just brilliant in every aspect and although its not a common dance floor hit this year, it is without a doubt, a timeless hit and should be played at every party everywhere because well….hell its jus fun.

5. Rebel Yell – Billy Idol (I mean come on, this song just rocks damnit!)
4. Where The Party’s At – Tonight Only (as loathed as I am to do it, it is played everywhere and it is, an alright song and sadly it is worthy of 4th place)
3. U Cant Touch This – MC Hammer (what more needs to be said….this song is jus awesome. Its so good, even the Family Guy has parodied it….that must mean its good)
4. That’s The Way I Like It – KC & The Sunshine Band (just a damn catchy song and has defiantly lasted through the years)
1. Fight For Your Right – Beastie Boys (as much as I would have liked to put KC in first place, its just not possible. Fight For Your Right IS the greatest party anthem of all time no doubts there)
